What an awesome 2019 for Downtown Tampa and the Channel District! And goodness gracious there is so much more to come.

Just this past week The USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute officially opened on January 8th. The estimated local, regional, and state economic impact is projected to be more than $70 million!

If you are not familiar with the building it is the 13 story building at 546 Channelside Dr that has been in the works for 5 years 🙂

“The Morsani College of Medicine is simply the most exciting building in the Tampa Bay region,” said University of South Florida President Steve Currall

On a tasty note 3 new places to indulge the taste buds have opened their doors recently.

Lala’s Sangria Bar is now open and in fulls swing at 203 North Meridian Ave, Tampa, Florida 33602

They did a beautiful job on the interior and an even better job on the cocktail menu 🙂 Stop by for a drink and some lite bites.

Right inside of Grand Central we have 2 spots, Gelato-Go and The Poke Company. Both happen to be emerging franchises out of South Florida, no relation to each other (as far as we can tell or read about)

Gelato-Go, has a wide variety of Gelato (Duh), but is also open for coffee and breakfast pastries which are very tasty. They also offer some Italian specialties like lasagna, pizza, focaccia, and a few others. We haven’t tried these yet, but they seem to be doing well so far.

The Poke Company is pretty much what you expect it to be, a poke shop. Everything is very pretty, fresh, and tasty. They also have some other menu items like Ginger Miso Chicken and Tofu.

On one more note, just a tiny bit outside of the Channel District, The Embark Collective project is underway and 1st phase has opened.

“Embarc Collective helps Tampa Bay’s startup talent build bold, scalable, thriving companies. They are not a co-working space, accelerator or incubator. They are a new kind of support model, one where your company’s experience at Embarc Collective is customized around your priorities to help your growth.” -Embark’s Description

Sounds pretty awesome!
